Art lovers are being invited to take a closer look at the exhibits on show at Bolton Library and Museum Services.

The service is hosting 'slow Looking at art' sessions, where people can take the time to find out more about an exhibit.

All the sessions are free, and the first session is on Tuesday, August 30 between 12.30pm and 1pm. There is no need to book, simply turn up to the art gallery.

A spokesperson for Bolton Library and Museum Services said: "Guided by our curator of art, there will be four sessions, each focusing on different artwork in the museum.

"Slow Looking is based on the idea that, if we really want to get to know a work of art, we need to spend time with it. Also, it is a way of focusing on a piece of art and enjoying some quiet and mindful time.

The first session will be looking at Vanessa Bell and her contemporaries.
