Free online training sessions about gambling addiction are being made available to professionals in Greater Manchester.

GamFam, a peer support group funded by Greater Manchester Combined Authority, is hosting the three sessions in September - September 22 September 6.30pm – 8:30pm, September 28 10am – 12pm and September 28 6.30pm – 8.30pm. 

A spokesperson for GamFam said: "These sessions are open to Greater Manchester residents and professionals to find out more about the impact of gambling harms on individuals and families and what support is out there.

"This session is facilitated by someone with lived experience of gambling addiction and recovery and GM figures will be discussed."

Among the topics covered are:

  • What is gambling and gambling addiction?
  • What are gambling harms? The impact on individuals and their families.
  • What help is available in Greater Manchester?
  • Having a 'conversation' about gambling-related concerns

There will also be time for questions.

GamFam also offers peer support to anyone impacted by gambling harms. The run a number of online peer groups for affected others and gamblers in recovery.

All staff and facilitators have lived experience of gambling harm.
