A proud mum of two will see both her children off to Oxford and Cambridge after the summer.

Sandra Arden’s 18-year-old daughter Verity from Kearsley will follow in her brother Levi’s footsteps who is due to start his third year at Oxford.

Except Verity has chosen Cambridge University to study natural sciences after her impressive A* and three A grades in maths, further maths, biology and chemistry.

Verity went to Kearsley Academy just like Levi and has studied hard to get into Cambridge.

Mum Sandra said: “She likes learning about things like global warming, ecology and conservation.

"We go out a lot in nature and so she took interest in things as well as animals because her grandma has a farm.

"Verity looks after the chickens on the farm, so we’ve always been into nature and wildlife.

"I am very proud of her and can’t really believe it that I have two children at Oxbridge, that’s not too common."

Lexi is 19 and studies physics at Oxford University, where his parents drop him off every term, something they will now have to split as they also drop Verity off to Cambridge.

Sandra said: “When Lexi went off to Oxford I always told Verity she could get in too.

“They both work really hard and now two of my children are at Oxbridge."

When not studying the siblings can be found helping their parents at the family business, Easy Lawn Turf and Sandra was also a governor at Kearsley Academy.

Both Levi and Verity studied their A-Levels at Bury College.

Sandra said: “It’s exciting and now we get to take them both to their university’s and usually we stay over in Oxford and enjoy some time there.

“We’ll get to do that in Cambridge now so that’ll be nice for us too.”

While Verity still has yet to decide where her studies will take her, Levi is thinking of a career in finance.

The siblings were looking forward to the new term start, especially Verity who was excited for a change and couldn’t wait to get into life at Cambridge, where she may also take up rowing for the university, something Levi already does for Oxford.
