A pianist and maths genius is looking ahead and taking it as it comes after achieving seven grade 9’s (A’s).

Oliver Di-Marcello from Canon Slade School was taken aback with his GCSE results, after getting grade 9’s in not one maths subject but three, as well as achieving grade 9s in all sciences, religious studies, and computer science.

He is now hoping to ‘take it as comes’, whilst he chooses between the school’s six form or Holy Cross College in Bury.

Oliver said: “I wasn’t really nervous; I was just inpatient and just wanted to know what I got.”

The mathematician plans to study maths, further maths, and music, where he hopes to show off his skills as a pianist.

He said: “With maths, something just clicked in my brain, and I’ve always just loved maths.

“I love playing the piano and really have a passion for music.

“I’m quite obsessed with music.

“I’m taking it as it comes.

“I’ve definitely had a lot of testing times, but I just kept my head down and kept going for it and dideverything that was set.”

Even with the challenges throughout the pandemic, Oliver says he was determined to get the work done, and he thanked his teacher Mrs Iles especially for all her support.
