Headteacher of Sharples School Ann Webster says 'every grade was throughly deserved' on GCSE results day.

She said: "We are delighted with the excellent GCSE and BTEC results achieved by the Class of 2022. Every grade awarded is thoroughly deserved, and is the culmination of the positive work ethic and absolute resilience embodied by our students.

"We are proud of the large number of our students who have met or exceeded the targets that have been set for them. Achieving these targets takes consistent hard work and commitment from our staff and students and we are delighted to see so many being awarded the grades that will allow them to move on to positive Post-16 Pathways.

"We wish all of our students ongoing success and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their excellent contribution to the Sharples learning community over the last five years."

Their families came to school this morning to open results with them and there were tears of joy everywhere.

Students celebrated record results across the board at Sharples and a total of 80 Grade 9's!  Head girl Maria Ehiamen (third left) arrived in the UK aged 8 speaking no English but today she celebrated a Grade 9 in her English GCSE, plus Grade 9's in Spanish, Maths, Sciences and a Grade 7 in Greek!
