Muscians on a new Bolton based hip hop label have been chosen as the intro and outro talk-over music on BBC Introducing Lancashire.

Tracks from the very first EP released on the Live From The Groove label, Extended Play Volume One by collective Dusty Methods, has been playing as the host of BBC Introducing Lancashire DJs speak to their audience for the past few weeks.

The tracks were submitted to the BBC and subsequently co-owner of the label Al English, a former teacher from Astley Bridge, was invited into the studio for an on-air interview.

Al, who also goes by the stage name Dweller, said: “It means that people are enjoying what we do.

“It’s the first thing we’ve ever uploaded to the BBC from this label, so we feel that it’s a good sign for the future.

"If they like the first thing we’ve uploaded, then they’re going to like the rest of the stuff that we’ve put a lot of time into as well.”

Al says it’s very important that local radio stations help promote local talent like this and says that the BBC have always been a big supporter of what he’s done.

“I’ve been making music in many different guises over the years and this exposure is massive for people like us.

"We love to get on the main airwaves, so any exposure is amazing.

“They’ve got the reach that we don’t have so they play a phenomenal role in getting local artists out there.

"The more time that we can get with these people the better."
