A Bolton man who was found to be more than three times over the drink drive limit has been banned from driving for more than two years.
Paul Atherton was spotted on Coupland Road in Wigan while driving his Fiat Panda on June 14 this year.
The 60-year-old was found to have 111 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than three times the legal limit of 35mcg per 100ml of breath.
Atherton, aged 60, admitted the offence when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 24.
Following the outcome he was made the subject of a community order to last for a year.
He was ordered to undergo treatment for alcohol dependency for nine months and was placed on an electronically tagged curfew requiring him to remain at his home in Hindley Road, Westhoughton, between 7pm and 7am for 16 weeks.
He was also ordered to complete 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
Atherton was also banned from the roads for a period of 28 months, but given the chance to reduce this by 28 weeks if he completes a course.
