The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police (GMP) was quizzed by the public on everything about violent crime to illegal motorbikes.

Stephen Watson was on BBC Radio Manchester in which he took questions from people across the city region.

He was asked about violent crime and how GMP is keeping both members of the public and officers/staff staff.

The police chief told listeners that officers and staff were well trained and equipped to respond and investigate.

When asked about GMP's reponse to incidents involving firearms, Mr Watson reassured listeners that they have a first class firearms response and that they have made tremendous advances in terms of the speed of getting officers to members of the public who need help.

When asked about road safety particularly relating to illegal motorbikes, Mr Watson told listeners that GMP are increasing the size of their roads policing unit which is complimented by plain clothes officers and specially-trained colleagues on off-road bikes.

When made aware of an incident which a member of the public struggled to report, Mr Watson apologised and reassured the caller that call handling has improved but he'd ask for a team to review the online reporting mechanism and the incident in question.

He was given the opportunity to update on the force's progress in coming out of special measures, the Chief promised that it's really important to GMP and officers and staff are working their socks off.

And finally, when asked about bobbies on the beat, Mr Watson promised that their neighbourhood review is informing improvements to local policing and ensure members of the public are in contact with their neighbourhood officers.
