A COMEDIAN tracked down a young hero to say "thanks" for coming to his aid when he fell and cut his head in a spa bath.

Eight-year-old Denon Godfrey spotted blood pouring from Mike Lancaster's head after he slipped and rushed up three flights of stairs to alert staff at the Ambar Beach Hotel, Fuerteventura.

Comic Mr Lancaster, who lives in Nangreaves, Bury, was oblivious to the cut until Denon, of Le Gendre Street, Tonge Moor, told him he was bleeding.

Denon had been playing with his Nintendo games console when the accident happened and managed to beat the language barrier to convey to the hotel receptionist what had happened.

Within 10 minutes an ambulance had arrived to take Mr Lancaster to hospital.

The entertainer, who was on holiday with his wife and two children, said: "There is a lack of ability to take care of other human beings these days and this little young man is a Good Samaritan."

At the suggestion of his two children, Melissa, aged eight, and Michael, aged 11, Mr Lancaster spent a day tracking down Denon so he could thank him for his help.

After finding out he attended Moorgate Primary School, Entwistle Street, Tonge Moor, the comedian turned up to his school assembly to award him with a bag of Dr Who goodies.

Denon, a year three pupil, said: "I saw him lying there saying ouch' and I thought he was really hurt so I ran for help."

Debbie Hopwood, the school's acting headteacher and Denon's teacher, said: "Denon is such a caring little boy. He acted so promptly and calmly while overcoming a language barrier, and he's only eight.

After receiving six stitches, Mr Lancaster returned to his hotel to carry on with his holiday before flying home on February 20.
