Gary Neville has shared a picture of a specially made product from a Bolton pasty shop to his 1.6m Instagram followers - declaring it "the best".

The Manchester United legend was the centre of attention alongside Bolton’s own Amir Khan when the pair came to the town last month to film an episode of The Overlap.

The episode that was filmed that day aired last week.

The Overlap is Neville’s YouTube and podcast series where he interviews sports stars and other celebrities, often as they walk through familiar places to them.

On Wednesday, the former England right back shared a specialty baked pastie from Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe, which they also visited on the day of filming.

The pastie was decorated with the word "overlap", and Neville captioned the photograph of it with "The best!!!".

It was not by chance that the pair ended up at Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe on the day of filming.

Owner Marie Walsh has known Gary and Phil Neville’s family since before the famous Manchester United brothers were born.

She said: “They just rang us and said he was doing a podcast.

“Gary has been coming here since he was a little boy.”

It was Khan’s first visit to the store.

She added: “Amir had a cheesy pasty and Gary had a meat and potato one.

“They liked them because they were homemade.

“They wanted the recipe which I wouldn’t give them, it has been the same family recipe since 1898.”

In the episode which was first posted on September 1, Khan and Neville can be seen wandering through Bolton town centre as the latter asked the former 17 questions, one for every year the Bolton boxer had been alive when he famously won his Olympic silver medal at the Athens games in 2004.

Unfortunately, Bolton’s famous pasty shop did not get a mention in the episode, even when Khan was asked to name his favourite meal.

“I like a typical fish and chips. You can’t beat it,” he replied instead.

Bolton get a few more mentions throughout the interview.

When describing the “great nightlife” in his favourite holiday destination in Los Angeles, Neville jokingly asked Khan, “like Bolton?”, to which Khan agreed.

“You’ve got beautiful building over in LA, similar to Bolton’s”, he added as the pair wandered through Le Mans Crescent.
