An investigation is underway after fire broke out at a flat in Heaton this morning, Friday.

Three fire engines were alerted to a fire at a ground floor property on Royal Court Drive at 6.30am.

No-one was injured in the fire however there is a lot of fire and smoke damage in the flat.

Fire crews are currently investigating how the fire may have started.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We had a fire in a ground floor on Royal Court Drive in Bolton.

“We were called at 6.30am, three fire engine attended from Bolton Central and Bolton North stations.

“Luckily no persons were involved.

“Fire investigations are currently looking into how it may have started at the moment.

“There’s a lot of fire and smoke damage to that flat but fire crews managed to contain it to ground floor only so its not spread to the first or second floors.”

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for a comment about the incident.
