YES, they are from Wigan which even I, with my limited grasp of geography, understand is not actually in Bolton, but my favourite local band this week has to be the divine The Maladies of Bellafontaine.
They're playing at Wychwood festival with Islands Lost At Sea (it's becoming a bit of an obsession) and their track Champagne' is the most infectious thing since cold sores - go and check it out on their MySpace site.
There's seven of them (yes, counting fans, I know there's only six in the picture), they play instruments including sitars and cello, they sound like sunshine. What more could you want?
For anyone who thinks Cheltenham is a bit far to go to check them out, they're playing on March 25 at the Deaf Institute, on Grosvenor Street, in Manchester. Go!
