An outreach charity in Bolton is on the lookout for volunteers to spare an hour a week.
The Reach Family Project works with the local community to help vulnerable families in need, as well as providing befrienders to the elderly.
The charity currently has 20 elderly and isolated people in need of a volunteer.
One of their members in need of some company is Bill aged 89, who “lived a long and happy life with his wife and tried his best to look after her when she was diagnosed with dementia”.
But since she went into a care home, he is unable to “cope with the loneliness”.
