VIEWERS of University Challenge saw a team of four consultants from the Royal Bolton Hospital win the quiz show last night.
Gordon Shepard, Nick Smith, Philip Wykes and Hamish Michie made up the team, Hospital Consultants.
They took on The Faculty of Advocates, an ancient Scottish society of barristers, and won to go through to the next round of the quiz.
The team - three surgeons and one anaesthetist - will now progress to the last 16 of University Challenge: The Professionals, which is a spin-off from the original format with occupational groups pitted against each other.
Last night the famous four were at the Victoria Inn in Markland Hill to watch the programme. Following its broadcast, they hosted a charity pub quiz, based on the show's format, to raise money for the hospital.
The next round has already been filmed and will be shown on April 15.
