ADVENTUROUS youngsters took part in a range of exciting activities at a fun day in Bolton.

Moses Gate Country Park hosted its annual "Active Outdoors" event at the Rock Hall Visitor Centre at the weekend.

Instructors from Bolton Council's youth services team were on hand to give hints and tips to young visitors wanting to try their hand at sports including canoeing, climbing and archery.

The South Lancashire Orienteering Association was also there to teach map-reading skills on a course for beginners.

Young fitness fanatics got their heart rates up by taking part in health walks and bike rides and rangers led a bird-watching trek.

Meanwhile, runners sprinted their way to the finishing line in a two-kilometre fun run organised by Bolton Council and Bolton United Harriers.

The Bolton South Neighbourhood Policing Team also took part in the free event to offer crime prevention advice.
