HARLOW Penguins swimmers helped the club to finish 11th from 26 clubs in the fourth and final round of the Essex County Championships.

Senner Koskocan, 12 had a successful weekend, winning two silver medals in the 100m breastroke (1min 22.20secs) and gaining an excellent four-second personal best time (2mins 57.43secs) in the 200m breaststroke.

Koskocan also went on to win a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle, clocking an amazing 38-second personal best and a regional qualifying time, and swam to seventh place in the 200m freestyle (2mins 24.04secs).

Fourteen-year-old Annie Groome gained two regional qualifying times in the 200m backstroke (2mins 34.97secs for eighth place) and in the 100m butterfly (1min 11.72secs for seventh place and a PB).

Victoria Malcolm, 12 came sixth in the 100m freestyle final after swimming a four-second PB (1min 6.52secs) in the heats.

She also set another four-second PB in the 100m backstroke (1min 17.96secs for 18th place).

Another finalist during the weekend was 17-year-old Craig Warwick, who in the heats of the 100mbBackstroke gained a regional qualifying time and PB (1min 3.50secs).

Kaz Melvin, 17 swam 200m breastroke and just missed out on a medal after coming fourth with a regional qualifying time (2mins 48.41secs).

Individually, at the end of the championships, eight club members were placed in the top 20 in the county in their respective age groups.
