Whitworth 1 Breightmet 6

BREIGHTMET turned in their best display of the season to hit bottom club Whitworth Valley for six.

Breightmet were ahead within two minutes when Dave Haslam rounded the Whitworth defence and cleverly chipped the goalkeeper.

Just after the half-hour mark, excellent play between the Breightmet strike pair produced a second goal for Haslam.

Whitworth Valley were then reduced to 10 men for some rough-house tactics.

Within five minutes of the second half, the home side were down to nine men following a second sending off.

After 70 minutes, a well-worked goal from Tommy Williams should have put the game beyond doubt.

However, Whitworth capitalised on some poor defending to grab a consolation.

This spurred Breightmet on, and another well-worked move from the Breightmet strikers produced a goal for young Hayden Paul - a real find from the youth team.

A fifth goal followed shortly after when Steve Barlow finally found the net after his earlier poor finishing.

A sixth goal from Dean Backs in the last minute put the icing on the cake for lowly Breightmet.
