WALKDEN Fives and Salford Waggon are celebrating trophy success after lifting their respective League Cups at Eagley.

In the first match of the day, Walkden Fives beat Dobbies C 2-0 in the Division One Cup Final.

The two teams went into the interval on level terms, but the team talk worked wonders for Walkden as they came out the more positive and created several chances before they eventually broke the deadlock with Tony Briffa poking in from close range after Dobbies' keeper went walkabout.

Walkden went in search of a second, and they got it when a dangerous cross into the box was finished with a superb volley from Paul Smith.

Dobbies never gave up and kept pushing, but Mark Morris should have made it three for Walkden when his volley skimmed off the crossbar.

The afternoon match saw Salford Waggon take on Bolton Wyresdale in the Division Three Cup Final.

Wyresdale started the better and carved out a couple of good chances. Try as they might, though, they could not put the ball in the net and, at half-time, the score was 0-0.

Salford came out with all guns blazing, creating several good chances before Steve Fagan eventually got on the end of a fine pass to give Salford the lead.

The second was a bit more fortunate after a goalmouth scramble ended with a Wyresdale defender helping the ball into his own net.

Salford are now set for the double as they lead Division Three and still have games in hand. They are also still in the Sam Ashworth Trophy.

In league action, Peake Fitness have one hand on the Division One title after a 2-0 win over Stoneclough left them three points clear at the top with one game to go. Just one point from their last game will give them the title irrespective of what happens elsewhere.

In Division Two, Park Wanderers may have thrown away their title chances after a 1-1 midweek draw with Pennington and, although their 2-1 win over The Pineapple at the weekend left them three points clear at the top, it's now out of their own hands.

Garswood United are now within touching distance of the title after a late winner gave them a 1-0 win over local rivals, The Newmarket, and it leaves them just three points off the top.

They have two games in hand on leaders Park, and a much better goal difference, so just one win out of their last two games should see Garswood lift the trophy and Park are guaranteed at least runners-up spot.

Pennington had their third draw in a week after Paul Mathews' equaliser for Ainsworth A cancelled out Grewcock's earlier strike for Pennington in a 1-1 draw.

Although three points from three matches are very welcome, they needed victories to get into the promotion shake-up and must now settle for fourth place.

In Division Three, Golborne Parkside move up a place to fifth after a narrow 2-1 win over The Crofters, and Seedfield Sports Vets are finishing the season with a flourish after edging out Breightmet United 3-2 to move off the bottom and up to seventh spot.
