WANDERERS have once again enlisted the backing of their supporters as they battle to stay in the Premier League.

After 2,000 travelling fans roared the Whites on to victory at Middlesbrough over the weekend, the club have put on free travel for Saturday's visit to Tottenham.

Any supporters who buy a match ticket, priced at £36 for adults and £18 for concessions, will receive a free return trip to White Hart Lane.

Saturday's magnificent backing has already been praised by defensive duo Gary Cahill and Jlloyd Samuel, and manager Gary Megson has revealed how the players could hear the fans in their dressing room at the Riverside.

"I've always said, and it's always been the case, that the fans can have a massive impact and make a big difference throughout the course of a match," Megson said.

"We could hear them in the dressing room on Saturday and it certainly had an effect on the lads.

"The players know what we have to do in the remaining matches but this kind of support can be a major boost, home and away."

Skipper Kevin Nolan was so impressed with the vociferous travelling army that he claimed they were the 12th man for his side at Middlesbrough.

"The support was absolutely 100 per cent spot on at the Riverside. Our fans outperformed the home support and the level of noise they created was phenomenal.

"There's no doubt about it, that they were our 12th man, so it's absolutely great news that the club is doing it again and offering free travel for our game at White Hart Lane."

It is not just the players who are delighted with the scheme.

The fans are also right behind the gesture, as testified by the huge vocal support at the Riverside.

Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association chairman Tony Pearson said: "It's great. "Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose.

"It will be a good thing and the support at Middlesbrough undoubtedly lifted the team; as it did against West Ham.

"Hopefully, the fans can lift the players to another surprise victory at Tottenham and we are almost safe of trouble then.

"When you take a few thousand to an away ground, they really can be loud and the players seem to respond."

Pearson's fellow BWSA committee member David Blackburn said: "It's brilliant. It shows that the club do care about the fans and that they care about staying in the Premier League.

"I have watched us all over the country, and in Europe, this season and it is embarrassing sometimes when there are only a few hundred there.

"But the fans were fantastic at Boro and they sang all the way through the game. It was great to see.

"It was clear to see that the players really appreciated it."

Supporters wishing to take advantage of the offer should contact the Reebok promotions department on 01204 673 663.

Coaches will depart the Reebok Stadium at 8am on the morning of the game.

There will be no smoking or alcohol on the coaches.

Tamir Cohen, Gary Cahill and Grzegorz Rasiak, who all had stitches in head wounds following Saturday's victory at the Riverside, should all be fit to play at Spurs on Saturday.

Striker Kevin Davies, who is ruled out of the trip to White Hart Lane through suspension anyway, is responding well to treatment on a hand injury and will be monitored closely ahead of the home clash with Sunderland on May 3.
