An 11-year-old boy received serious head injuries after a collision with a car in Tyldesley this morning.
The boy was walking across Astley Street, near its junction with Standish Street, shortly after 8.10am when he was in collision with a silver VW Golf.
He suffered a serious head injury in the collision and was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital where his condition is currently described as serious.
No-one else was injured in the incident.
Astley Street at its junctions with Thirlmere Avenue and Elliott Street was closed, but has now re-opened.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Area 1 Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 7201.
