THERE was an exciting finish to the Lancashire RC Road race at Holcombe in July, 1963, when 12 riders sprinted over the line to gain the same time.
The winner was E. Rowlands of Wigan in 2 hours 22 minutes 50 seconds. I can't help but notice that in our photograph there is a lorry catching the cyclists up . . . or maybe they were travelling faster than he was.
