Stunned staff at a Bolton clothing factory have been left reeling by the news that 190 jobs face the axe.

Union officials have started urgent talks with bosses at Baird Outerwear Brands Ltd, better known as Dannimac Ltd. No redundancy notices have been issued yet, but company officials have confirmed they expect about 190 jobs to be lost.

A solution to the "who goes where" Bolton schools wrangle has been proposed by local MP Mrs Ann Taylor.

The Bolton West MP, a former front bench education spokesman for Labour, is exploring the possibility of a new allocation system, in a Commons question to Education Secretary Sir Keith Joseph.

When Mrs. Simon Harrison entered a church at Swinefield, New Jersey, it was noticed that her hat was decorated with a very lifelike bird. Then the bird began to circle around, and Mrs. Harrison fainted. It was found that a nest had been made in the hat while it was lying on a dressing table.
