A CHARITY football match will be held by Egerton FC in memory of former player Wes Duraman, who died last year.

The event, on Sunday, will see the side take on Mason Arms (Old Boys) FC at Eagley FC to raise money towards providing a lasting tribute to Mr Duraman, of Great Stones Close, Egerton.

The 23-year-old died after falling 60ft into Cox Green quarry in Egerton in September, 2007.

He was a former pupil of Egerton Primary School and Turton High School, and graduated in media production at Lincoln University a week before his death and had been looking forward to becoming a voluntary presenter with community radio station Bolton FM.

A raffle at the match will also raise cash with prizes including a football signed by Bolton Wanderers, a three-course meal at the Thomas Egerton hotel and a barrel of beer.

Gates open at 1pm. Kick-off is at 2pm.

After the match, local singer-songwriter Andrea Glass will play at the Mason's Arms, in Blackburn Road, at 8pm to continue the fundraising day.
