ROADS in Bolton's residential areas are to benefit from an £850,000 improvement programme.
The scheme is part of plans outlined by Bolton Council's highways department after it received £1million from the Government as part of its resettlement budget earlier this year.
Local people will benefit from an extra 2.5km of newly re-surfaced roads and an extra 2km of resurfaced pavements.
Improvements will be made to a further 16,000 square metres of road and 9,900 square metres of footpath to prolong the life of the existing surfaces.
An extra £100,000 will be added to the urgent repairs budget, for problems such as potholes, and this will help ensure more permanent repairs are done rather than temporary patching.
