AMIR Khan is likely to face a tough domestic challenge for his first fight without former trainer Oliver Harrison when he tops the bill at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on June 21.

Khan's handlers have drawn up a final shortlist of projected opponents topped by former British super-featherweight champion Michael Gomez, recent WBA light-welterweight champion Gavin Rees and Scotland's Ricky Burns, with the identity of the new opponent set to be revealed on Tuesday.

Khan, meanwhile, has expressed sadness that Harrison, his trainer since he turned professional, had been sacked.

"I don't know what was behind it," Khan said. "We tried to arrange a meeting to sort things out, but Oliver didn't turn up."
