A competition has officially arrived in Horwich in which one lucky child could have the chance to switch on the district's Christmas lights this year.
Youngsters who live or go to school in the area and those in areas nearby such as Blackrod will be able to enter the contest.
The winner will be invited to switch Horwich's Christmas tree lights on and have their design printed on the cover of town mayor Cllr Steven Chadwick's official Christmas card.
The festive cards which will be sold throughout Horwich to raise money for the town mayor’s charities.
They will also be invited to Craftprint to see their design being printed on press.
Anyone taking part must be under 18 and from the area.
Christmas card designs can be sent to Horwich Town Council, Horwich Community Centre, Beaumont Road, Horwich, BL6 7BG.
The card designs must include the child’s name, age, and school on the reverse of the card, and it must be A4 in size.
The deadline for the competition is Friday, October 14.
