A popular scarecrow festival will return for its second year.

The Little Lever and Darcy Lever Scarecrow Festival is coming back after a successful first year in 2021 with more than 69 entries.

The scarecrow festival will be on from October 8 to 16 at 10am until 4pm each day and so far 27 streets are taking part.

Also on Sunday, there will be a scarecrow making workshop at Mytham Road Park which is free.

Cllr Andrea Taylor-Burke said she is excited for it to make a come back.

She said: "This year is only our second one, we did it last year and had 69 entries so we are hoping for more this year.

"It is so lovely to see so many of the community getting involved.

"People in Little Lever and Darcy Lever love to get involved with community events and come together.

"I'm passionate about our community and the people in it.

"We now have a committee of residents who have formed a group called Love Little Lever and they now help to organise and run our events which has been a massive help for me and I am so proud to be a part of it.

"There is no cost to enter our festival as we don't want to put any barriers up for anyone to not get involved.

"We all know that money can be an issue in the present times.

"We also put on a scarecrow making event which is this Sunday on Mytham Park Little Lever where people can come along and use the clothes and straw we provide for free, so everyone can be involved."

Throughout the week there will be games, cakes, crafts and maps available for residents to look around the scarecrows in order.

There will also be a Scarecrow Festival Celebration Day on October 16 from 12 until 4PM with lots of activities, stalls, dance, music and food.

Last year's scarecrow festival, scarecrows featured Back to the Future inspired displays, an ET display, a minion with a pumpkin head, Woody from Toy Story, Spiderman and so many more.
