A celebration parade walk will take place to mark the birthday of  holy Prophet Muhammad, and the life and work of the Sufi saint Sheik ,Sufi Mohammed Aslam.

The Milad, Arabic name for the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, is celebrated all over the world by Muslims.

It’s amongst the most important dates in the Islamic calendar.

In Bolton a walk is planned on Sunday, October 9

The walk will take place across Great Lever starting from Makkah Mosque and a number of roads will be closed.

On October 9 between 1.45pm and 3.15pm all traffic will be prohibited from proceeding on a various number of streets.

These include Bella Street, St Helens Road from Bella Street to High Street, High Street from St Helens Road to Bridgeman Street, Bridgeman Steet from High Street to Higher Swan Lane, Higher Swan Lane from Bridgeman Street to Settle Street, Settle Street from Higher Swan Lane to Rishton Lane, Rishton Lane from Settle Street to Grecian Crescent and Grecian Crescent from Rishton Lane to Northolt Drive.

The closures are in place to allow the procession to safely take place and there will be rolling closures active whilst the procession passes.

The roads will open at around 3.15pm.

The birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) is celebrated by all communities in different ways.

Organisers of the walk say it is designed to share the joy and happiness of the day with all the communities. It brings great happiness to the people.

The walk will also commemorate Sufi Sheik Mohammad Aslam.

Most of Sufi Sheik Aslam’s work was with young adults; he helped thousands of youngsters not only to become better Muslims but also taught them the importance of integrating with other communities and cultures.

All are invited to join them in the walk which is the 28th celebration walk in Bolton.
