A pub in Over Hulton has undergone a £80,000 transformation to take centre stage.

The Hulton Arms, on Four Lane Ends, has been transformed into a live music venue, with music events taking place every weekend and throughout the week.

The pub on the corner of Manchester Road is owned by  Alan Hackers, 68, from Westhoughton.

But the pub retains it cosy local atmosphere too - and he says all interests are catered for with rooms having a different vibe.

Inside the pub there are six rooms for customers - a music room with décor reflecting  Northern Soul era right up to current times, a Paris room allowing guests creating a Parisian feel,  a London room, a New York room, a darts and cards area and a pool room which allows guests to play games whilst enjoying their drinks.

Alan, who has owned 18 pubs throughout his career, said the pub ‘really has got something for everyone’.

And speaking about his revamp, Alan said: “We have refurbed inside, outside and done total live music and we are supporting all bands around Bolton.

“The pub was in need of a revamp so during the lockdown I refurbished the whole of the inside and I did this using my staff, so I was paying them, so they weren’t losing any money.

“We finished all that and said as soon as we can get onto the outside it will be done and now the outside is completely finished.

“The pub used to be like back to the fifties inside, all like dark wood bars and everything like that and now it’s been completely transformed.

“Everything has been changed; we have a new bar, new toilets, all brand-new light fittings, new seating and flooring, new décor, literally everything.

“Customers can expect a live music experience every single weekend and top tributes and we do get busy.

“I did it to change it into a live destination music pub because there currently is none, so we thought we have got to bring that, so we really are trying to push live music.

“When I decided to redo it all, my plan was simple I thought what do I want, there are food places everywhere and pubs everywhere, but they don’t have consistent music events, all the destination places have all gone, so that’s what this place is going to be.

“There is nothing like this around here.

“I invested £80,000 of my own money to bring this pub to life, and everyone is welcome.

“It’s been a hard life in the pub game since Covid and coming out of it and I realised we needed to find something that people will like and that’s where we got the live music idea from.

“It’s all about bringing live music to the people.”

The pub is open Monday to Thursday 2pm until midnight and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12pm until late.

Each week there are tribute acts, and each Sunday there is a family karaoke afternoon for all to enjoy.

Alan said all are welcome, seeing people come all the way from Manchester and Wigan and further to get a taste of the live music.
