A road in Bolton has been closed after an early hours crash.

Transport for Greater Manchester put out a morning early on Sunday morning saying that Lever Edge Lane in Great Lever had been closed after a collision on the road.

The transport authority warned at just after 5am that the road had been closed between Higher Swan Lane and Morrison Street and was likely to remain closed throughout much of the morning.

A TfGM statement said: “Road closure on Lever Edge Lane, Bolton from Higher Swan Lane to Morrison Street.

“This is due to a road traffic collision.

“This closure may be extended throughout the morning.”

TfGM advised that people can follow their social media channels for further updates.

As yet the authorities have not confirmed how many vehicles were involved in the crash and if any one was injured.

But Bolton Central and Farnworth fire stations have confirmed that they were not called out to deal with any serious incidents in the Great Lever area in the early hours of Sunday.

Transport for Greater Manchester will issue further updates later in the day when the road is eventually cleared.

Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
