A man filmed making comments at a couple following a collision has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and assault.

It follows an incident on Blackburn Road, Bolton on Friday morning.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 9am, Friday, September 30, to Blackburn Road, Bolton to reports of a road traffic collision and a disturbance.

“A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and assault.

“He has since been released under investigation.”

In the video the man who appears to be wearing a uniform belonging to Accrington based trucking firm Accolate Logistics, directs a torrent of vile abuse at the family.

Accolade Logistics has now apologised to anyone who witnessed the abuse and has confirmed the man was ‘immediately dismissed’, while they were also cooperating with a police investigation.

The video was shared more than 200,000 times on social media over the weekend.

The video prompted an immediate reaction from concerned community members across East Lancashire, Bolton and beyond.
