Lois Watkinson, from Bolton, completed the London Marathon to raise money for Bolton Hospice.
Lois was determined to fundraise for the charity, which provides specialist care and support for people living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families.
Despite not having a personal connection to the hospice, Lois lives and works in Bolton so is familiar with the impact the hospice has on those who access its services, and was eager to do her bit to support its future.
Lois said: “It has to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but also one of the most rewarding.
“It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am so thankful I did it for such an amazing charity.”
Lois crossed the finish line in 5 hours 15 minutes - an amazing achievement.
As gruelling as the London Marathon is, Lois clearly isn’t against taking part in the event again.
After sharing her time with her supporters on social media, she added, “Now I’ve got a time to beat.”
Lois’s mum Helen said: “Whenever she makes a commitment to anything she gives it her all and the London Marathon was no exception.
“She’s trained hard, and, despite a very difficult time for our family, she was absolutely committed to raising money for the hospice.”
Lois’s fundraiser is still open, and she would love to surpass her £2,000 target. If you’d like to donate visit https://tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/lois-watkinson.
