Travellers have packed up and left an old primary school site after more than a week.

Multiple caravans descended on an area of Kestor Street.

Businesses in the area reported an increase in antisocial behaviour over the weekend.

The local authority was informed, and an eviction order was made.

The travellers had set up camp on the area which used to be Bolton Parish Church Primary School located in The Haulgh.

The travellers were advised earlier this week to leave the scene.

And today the area is now clear of any caravans.

Concerns had been raised in the week while the travellers were there.

And one local businessman said he did not want to open his shop due to the problems.

Another member of staff at a nearby business, who asked not to be named, said:  “It was last Sunday when they broke in to the site,.

“We are worried about losing business, it is not good.”
