Bolton is marking World Mental Health Day with a number of community events to encourage people to look after their wellbeing as well as their physical healthh.

 

The day is designed to help people start conversations around mental health.

All events are on Monday unless otherwise specified.

 

BAND

BAND is a Bolton-based charity that supports people with mental health issues. On Monday they are partnering with the Living Well Team to advocate “making mental health and wellbeing a global priority.”

From 11 am to 3 pm, community groups and organisations will be offering information about mental health at The Victoria Hall.

There will also be fun activities and refreshments on offer.

Bolton Council

Bolton Council and Bolton Youth Voice will be exploring positive mental health for young people.

At Bolton Town Hall, those aged between 11-25 can join in this positive, youth-led event that boasts 14 activities, 20 prizes and free food and drink.

The event is from 5 pm- 8 pm.

The council is also running the first of four SafeTALK training courses.

SafeTALK trains individuals on how to prevent suicide by recognising the signs and learning how to protect and help life in the community.

The course is free to anyone who lives in Bolton and runs from 9 am to 12.30 pm at Castle Hill Centre.

WHYSUP 

WHYSUP will be  at Market Place today between 10 am and 4 pm promoting open and necessary conversation.

Aimed to get people talking about their mental well-being, the charity said: “We’re just happy to chat and see if we can help.”

 

Bolton Central Library

Between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm, Bolton Central Library will be hosting the Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service.

Offering free and confidential talking therapy, their trained practitioners can address and help with problems such as depression, anxiety and stress to help people cope better.
