Firefighters from Horwich assisted other services in Chorley after a stationery shop caught on fire in Chorley.

The fire took place at the shop on Market Walk, Chorley around 10.50am yesterday.

Although there were no reported injuries, crews still needed two hours to take the fire out completely and make sure it was safe for the public to be near.

The fire was brought under control by the firefighting crews who assisted other teams including those from Chorley.

Many shops around Rymans had to close as the crews worked but were back open by mid-day.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “Four fire engines from Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Preston and Horwich were called to a fire involving a commercial property on Market Walk, Chorley. “

The cause of the fire is still unknown as authorities investigate the incident further to find out what happened and how.

Chorley Council released a statement at 1pm yesterday: “You may have seen fire engines at Market Walk this morning - there was a small fire at Rymans.

“All the businesses are now open again except Rymans and Game (next door). They will be hoping to reopen shortly.”
