The nights are drawing in and now it’s October, Halloween isn’t far away.

Although the colder weather is on its way, we can still find ways to enjoy this time of year.

In the lead up to Halloween, many of us will be digging out our favourite spooky costumes and looking for the best pumpkins to carve.

If you’re wondering where you can get into the spooky spirit, look no further as we’ve rounded up some of the pumpkin patches you can visit near Bolton.

Smithills Open Farm

Where: Smithills Dean Road, Bolton, BL1 7NS

Smithills Open Farm is open on October 15 and 16 and again from October 22 to 30.

It costs £6 per pumpkin and tickets can be booked via the website. It’s important to note that you buy the tickets for the number of pumpkins you’d like to buy and not the number of people who will be visiting.

Dunham Pumpkins

Where: Henshall Lane, Dunham Massey, WA14 5SN

Join the Halloween fun at Dunham Pumpkins and choose your own pumpkin on the following dates: October 15, 16 and 22-30.

Pumpkin picking costs £5 and tickets can be bought via the website.

Paul’s Farm Pumpkin Patch

Where: 382 Dunkirk Lane, Leyland, PR26 7SY

Paul’s Farm Pumpkin Patch is free to enter and you won’t need to book tickets.

You will need to pay for the pumpkin you choose though and prices start from £3.

Hop on the tractor to get to the pumpkin patch (it runs every 15 to 20 minutes) and load it up with your chosen pumpkin before heading to the shop to pay for it.

It’s open from 10am to 4pm on October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 and more information is available via the website.

Kenyon Hall Farm

Where: Winwick Lane, Croft, Warrington, WA3 7ED

Pumpkins are available every day here and tickets cost £2.50 for adults and children and infants under 18 months can enter for free.

Pumpkins are an additional cost so they are not included in the ticket price.

You must book before you visit and tickets can be found on the website.

Grange Farm

Where: Stone Cross Lane, Lowton, Warrington, WA3 1JU

If you’d like to visit the Pumpkin Festival at Grange Farm to pick pumpkins, there’s plenty of time to do so.

Family tickets, for groups of up to five people, are available for £10 and additional tickets can be added if your group is bigger.

There’s entertainment for children as well as crafts and games, all included in the ticket price, but these aren’t available on all dates.

Pumpkins can be picked on the following dates: October 15, 16, 18-31.
