More people than last year are having affairs - with the cost of living crisis being blamed for patners straying.
A new cheating map shows 1,030 people are having affairs in Bolton - a big rise on last year's figure of 684.
The increase being blamed on cost of living crisis making it too expensive for unhappy couples to divorce so they are cheating instead.
There has also been a surge in affairs activity with life returning to normal after two years blighted by Covid restrictions.
The interactive Infidelity Index allows users to search a town, city or postcode to discover how many people are having affairs in any locality.
Figures for other places in Greater Manchester include Manchester (35,887 cheats, up from 27,224 last year), Bury (1,352 cheats, up from 1,141 last year), Salford (1,305 cheats, up from 1,251 last year), Cheadle (1,295 cheats, up from 1,229 last year), Hale (1,020 cheats, up from 916 last year), Rochdale (561 cheats, down from 819 last year), and Oldham (549 cheats, down from 1,095 last year).
The cheating map from IllicitEncounters.com, an online dating site for those looking to have affairs, is based on data from one million postcodes.
IllicitEncounters.com spokeswoman Jessica Leoni said: “We have seen a big rise in affairs in Bolton and throughout some parts of Greater Manchester.
“The cost of living crisis has been a huge factor in boosting the numbers of affairs. Sex is one of the few things you can do which is free and is a good way to relieve stress.
“Fewer unhappy couples can afford to divorce because the cost of setting up two new homes is astronomical. Far cheaper to stay in an unhappy relationship and have a discreet affair.
“A second factor has been life finally returning to normal after Covid and cheaters making up for lost time after two years of restrictions.
“The run-up to Christmas is always a boom time for affairs because most people are back in the office and looking for some fun.”
One cheating partner shared her story.
Choosing not be to named, she said: "My story is pretty usual. Bored professional lady who works away. I started an affair in January and even now we still continue to have fun on a weekly basis. Regular overnights, naughty weekends away with hot tubs etc sharing not just a sexual connection. We're both lucky to have the 'excuses' to use in our home lives to be able to enjoy this affair!"
