Diwali celebrations for the whole community will be taking  place later this month.

Charity Shree Sorathia Prajapati Community will be hosting its second fair in celebration of Diwali while also highlighting local small businesses from around the borough.

Taking place on October 29 at Bolton Indian Sports Club on Hackney Lane, the event will see lots of activities, food and drink and stalls - and the charity are now looking for 30 volunteers.

Dipesh Taank, Secretary of Shree Sorathia Prajapati Community, said: "We are hosting a cultural event, all the community is invited its not just for the Hindu community, it is open to everyone.

"We will have multicultural stalls available on the day and these are the small businesses who want to advertise their businesses or sell their products, get a little bit of a lime light really and we are helping out in the sense that we are not aking any money for them to be there.

"So even though it is a cultural event, celebrating the Diwali Mela Festival, the main aim is to help other businesses in this current time and condition where it is difficult to break out and with the cost of living crisis.

"It is a non-profit event we are hosting and we are injecting money into the cultural event without thinking about getting money back out of it.

"This is our second year running and last year we were successful but this year I think it is going to go beyond our expectations.

"The entry fee is £2.50 per person to help people out with the cost of living crisis.

"We do want this event to be happeneing every year celebrating Diwali and inviting anyone we can."

The event will take place from 2.30pm until late with kids activities such as fairground rides, bouncy castles, face painting, crafts and more as well.

The fire service  will be there with information on the services and the chance for kids to get on the fire engine and Greater Manchester Police will have a stall.

A dance group will perform from 6p,, a firework display will also take place at 9pm and live music will play throughout the day with Jazzy J DJ coming along hosting the event.

Stalls can still be requested and if you would like to volunteer on the day, people can contact Dipesh at dptaank@hotmail.com
