A new play space for dogs in Bolton will be providing fun and games for owners and their pooches alike.

Pet Fields Bolton, off Walker Fold Road in Doffcocker, is a new space for dogs, providing a fenced half-acre space with agility equipment and space for them to play to their hearts content.

The field is booked out by owners, and has agility equipment including ramps, tunnels and hurdles, balls and frisbees, water bowls, and poo bags and a bin, all enclosed by a six-foot fence, with a locked gate.

The business opened on Monday and all booking slots for its first week are already sold out.

Husband and wife duo Karl and Abi Neale, both aged 30, started the business to allow their dog, Bella, a safe space to run around in.

The couple, who are originally from Little Lever but now live in Blackrod, felt the need for a new dog park, with others in the area being regularly booked up.

Karl said: “Everyone works the same hours, and the only availability was during working hours.

“And with Bella, the more energy she has the worse she is at home.”

Both of Karl and Abi’s dogs, Bella and Buddy, were rescue dogs from Cyprus. The couple have found Bella to have large amounts of energy and to become easily distracted.

Karl said: “Honestly can’t tell you how tiring she has been. We’re both dog lovers, and our first rescue dog was really easy to train, so it came as a shock, she (Bella) is so easily distracted.

“So it’s good to be able to have a space with so little distraction from things to get them under control.”

Abi added: “It’s also useful for elderly owners or people with physical disabilities. For them to have somewhere where the dogs can run around, it’s really good for the owners.”

Business is good for Pet Fields, as Abi says:

“We’re fully booked up this week already.”

Karl concurs: “We just hope people are as happy with it and impressed. Then we want to get a bit more equipment in we hope.

“We were blown away with how quickly it’s grown.”

Pet Fields are currently only operating hour-long slots, but are looking to expand into half-hour slots in the future.

An hour slot at Pet Fields is usually £10, but they are currently offering 25  per centoff all bookings made in October.
