THE past of one of Bolton's most famous families has been unearthed with the findings going on display this weekend.
Earlier this year, Bolton's very own 'time team' carried out an archaeological dig on the historic Hulton estate.
Their discoveries will go on show on Sunday at a special event celebrating the history of the area.
The estate which once belonged a wealthy Bolton family - and was the inspiration for the hit TV drama Downton Abbey.
Hulton Hall used to stand on the park grounds until it was demolished in the 1950s.

The estate has links to significant events in the UK’s history, from William Hulton signing the order which led to the Peterloo Massacre in 1819.
John Bullen of the Over Hulton Community Group said: "The Salford University team who did the archaeological dig on the Hulton Estate are putting on public display their findings for the very first time. "They are incredibly excited about what they unearthed.
"Also we have a 1953 vintage bus coming courtesy of the Leyland Transport Museum.
"They will be giving free rides up and down the A6 for people. It can't go on the motorway as it has a top speed of 47 miles per hour."
Among the findings is what is thought to be a port glass with the Hulton Coat of Arms and "WH" - Sir William Hulton.
The exhibition and other attractions will take place in the Conservative Club on St Helens Road at noon.
