Students become film makers during a one-day film school at Bolton School.

The Young Film Academy was back at the school's Girls Division for its fifteenth delivering a day-long session all of Year 10.

The pupils enjoyed a masterclass in filmmaking and learning about the industry before getting more hands-on.

Their day included a session looking at various film-making techniques and types of shot, as well as learning how to create an on-screen fight sequence.

The students also got to try their hand at shooting their own short silent films.

Working in groups, they were given the challenge of telling a compelling story in just ten shots and had to try and incorporate everything they had learned throughout the day.

The task demanded a wide range of skills from the girls, including creativity, teamwork, patience and communication.

A screening of all of the short films brought the 'One Day Film School' to a close, followed by an ‘Oscars’ ceremony where Head Mrs Kyle announced the overall winner.

One of the Young Film Academy tutors said it was a "really great group, sparky and engaged throughout the day.

"Excellent films across the board."
