A man has been arrested following a two-car crash on the outskirts of Bury last night which saw a large emergency response.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP), North West Ambulance Service, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) were all called to the scene at around 7.30pm on Blackley New Road in Crumpsall.

Luckily, there were no major injuries, but one man was arrested on suspicion on drink driving.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “At around 19:30pm yesterday (23 October 2022), officers were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Blackley New Road in Manchester.

“GMFRS and ambulance also attended.

“There were no life-threatening or life changing injuries.

“One man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.”

The crash was reported to have closed the road.

According to MancTraffic the road was closed in both directions "from Sheepfoot Lane and off Blackley New Road. Traffic off Meade Hill Rd cannot turn right towards Cheetham Hill or go straight over the junction and has to head to Victoria Avenue to get into Blackley".
