A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault after a "disturbance" in Tottington last night, Monday.  

At around 11pm, residents said they heard screaming, banging and police sirens on Sawyer Street, which is just off Tottington Road.

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage, while a woman was taken into custody accused of assaulting police.

They remain in custody for further questioning.

Greater Manchester Police commented saying: “Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Sawyer Street, Bury, at 10.54pm yesterday, Monday.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of S47 assault and criminal damage and taken to Bury Police Station.

“The woman was arrested on suspicion of police assault and taken to Bolton Police Station.

“They remain in custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.”
