Bolton rich industrial  past will be celebrated this weekend.

Bolton Steam Museum on Mornington Road will be holding its 'Autumn Steamings' on Saturday 29 and Sunday, October 30 between 10am and 4pm.

Most of the steam engines which powered Bolton's industrial past will be operating o n these two days only. Admittance is free.

The museum, which is a volunteer-run charity, holds in its possession 30 old stationary steam engines, some of which had powered the cotton mills and woollen mills of Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Included in their roster of engines are six which were built in Bolton, three from Musgraves, one from Hick Hargreaves and two from smaller engine builders.

The steam museum’s oldest engine is over 180 years old, with most being well over 100 years old.

Free parking is available on the Morrison’s Supermarket off Chorley Old Road.
