Up to 49 jobs could go at a Bolton firm due to the turmoil in the energy market.

Love Energy Savings says positions are under consultation - but that other roles are  opening up in the business.

Of the roles currently in consultation, 23 of them are located at the Love Energy Savings head office in Bolton.

But the company said that the  employees under consultation  could apply for alternative roles opening up, of which there are 15.

Phil Foster, founder and chief executive officer, said: “For 15 years, Love Energy Savings has grown to meet the changing demands of the business energy market.

“Over the past 12 months, external forces in the Global energy market, has left us in a situation where we are simply unable to offer the same range of products to our customers, directly impacting our revenue.

“The Energy market has evolved and now we need to follow suit, to set up our operation in the best possible way to serve the needs of our customers at this time.”

He continued: “No business owner ever wants to be forced by external events beyond their control to change their business and to tell the team they’ve grown and invested in that they are placed at risk.

“But today, we’ve had to put 49 roles into consultation, from our national spread of team mates, who are able to apply for one of our 15 vacancies in growing areas of the business should they wish to do so.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for everybody concerned in the Global Energy Market and we ask for your kindness to all of the people concerned.

“We continue on our mission to Make Business Utilities Simple for UK SMEs in this current climate.”

Love Energy Savings bills itself as the UK’s leading energy comparison experts for gas and electricy for households and businesses .
