Two schools in Bolton have been been recognised for transforming the lives of young people in Bolton.

Sharples School has been shortlisted in the prestigious Educate Awards in the category of Most Inspirational Secondary School category.

And St Peter's CE Primary School in Farnworth has been shortlisted in the Most Inspirational Primary School category.

The school, one of the best performing mainstream schools in Bolton, impressed judges with the way it inspires pupils and the aspirational experiences the school delivers so young people can change their outlook on life

According to the judging panel, the St Peter's CE's school  leadership team is relentless in their drive to innovate and improve, in order to ensure that all pupils succeed, regardless of their socio-economic background.

In addition Kira Redmond a teacher from the primary school has been shortlisted for Teacher of the Year after a parent nominated her following her incredible support towards children.

For over a decade, the Educate Awards has shined a spotlight on the education sector, showcasing the work of schools and colleges that are continuing to deliver an outstanding education for children and helping achieve their full potential. 

With over 20 categories, the shortlist recognises inspiring teachers, dedicated support staff, efficient business managers and strategic leadership teams. 

The awards, in partnership with Copyrite Systems and Ricoh, is the largest education awards in the region and will take place at the iconic Liverpool Cathedral on Friday November 18. 

Kim O’Brien, founder of the Educate Awards, said: “A massive congratulations to the Bolton schools that have made this year’s shortlist. 

“Entries get stronger every year which makes the judges job a lot more difficult and so it is really crucial that submissions meet the stringent criteria of each category.

“It is no mean feat making it this far!”
