Two new faces are now behind the bar at one of Bolton's most popular pubs.

Matt Bury and Paul Robinson have taken over the Spread Eagle Pub in Bromley Cross and already putting their mark on it.

They took over from George Campbell who was offered an opportunity at a new establishment in Kirkby Stephen,

The new owners of the historic pub have revamped the menu.

Matt, said the response from the local community has already been fantastic.

He said: “I have lived in and around Manchester for about ten years and we have just moved from Stalybridge, and we are now living above the pub as the owners, the new landlords.

“We are quite excited to be the new owners, we have got quite a good reception from a lot of the regulars who come in and they are happy to meet us, and they are engaging with us.

“The response we have got has been quite positive and we are excited, if you had asked me about a week ago, I would have probably been stressed out of my head knowing how much stuff that we had to move but now that we have finished moving, we are actually quite looking forward to the future.”

Speaking about the changes they are hoping to make to the pub, Matt said: “We did a new menu launch on Friday because to our understanding the standards of the food here have been really good at some points, and it was sort of known as a really good food pub and Paul is actually a chef, so we really want to focus on bringing a new nice pub food menu in.

“We have designed our own menu and now we are serving food every day and doing Sunday lunches too.

“Everything is homecooked, so we are not ordering anything premade in, we are going to prepare it all ourselves from scratch including pizza loaded fries, mixed grills, lasagne, New York Burgers and much more.

“We are also trying to really focus on something going on everyday near enough so we are going to be doing quizzes, bingo, and we are thinking of doing a cheese and cracker night to add something so people can enjoy things whilst they come in for a pint and we are trying to liven it up a bit.

“Paul is also a singer so he will be doing some DJ’ing and we are going to do some karaoke at the weekends and get regular singers in to add some entertainment at the weekend as well.

“We are hoping to improve the cocktail menu, add a games night and in the summer in the pub garden do some BBQs aswell."

The duo decided to take over the pub as a new challenge and they are looking forward to what’s to come at the pub in the future.

Matt said: “We both have slightly different backgrounds.

" Paul has actually always worked in pubs and has sort of been cheffing for about 20 years.

“He has worked at quite a few places in Manchester including The Marriott Hotel and then he sort of ended up doing pub work and working behind the bar and he took over a pub a couple of years ago which is where I met him because I took over one with my ex-partner and I fell into the industry.

“I am a hairdresser by trade, and I have always worked in salons full time, so it was sort of like a different thing for me and this time we have both just decided to do it again and it was something we both found challenging but rewarding in the past, so we just thought we wanted to do something new together.”
