A drug dealer with a mobile phone hidden up his bottom and drugs in his underpants launched an attack on three police officers when they tried to arrest him.

Daniel Morris was stopped by police in November last year.

Morris headbutted one officer who had previously suffered a serious injury meaning he had titanium plates in his head.

Police had received intelligence that Morris' vehicle was being used for dealing drugs on the Johnson Fold Estate.

They saw the car on Gisburne Avenue with the boot open.

A man was seen to go inside a house and the car drove off.

When it stopped police approached the driver who was Morris.

He was searched and found to have to have multiple snap bags of cannabis with a value of £1,650.

He was also found to have £2,130 in £10 and £20 notes.

Morris was initially calm but went on to attempt to escape the police vehicle.

He managed to get on to the street and was involved in a struggle with all three officers.

Neil Ronan, prosecuting, said: "A PC noted there was a phone next to the offender's backside.

"He picked it up and noted it was covered in faeces.

"He was subsequently searched and found to have three snap bags of cannabis.

"It was 21.17 grams with a value of £1,693. It was found inside his pants."

He read a victim personal statement from the officer who was headbutted.

It said: "He had a serious head injury in the past and had titanium plates in his head.

"He wasn't expecting to be hit, it made him more worried than a normal person would be."

Morris, 26, of Hudson Close, Bolton, had previously admitted assaults on three emergency service workers and possession of cannabis and cocaine with the intent to supply.

He appeared in Bolton Crown Court for sentencing.

Nick Ross, defending, said he had only been dealing to pay off debts resulting from his own addiction to cocaine at the time.

Mr Ronan said this was not accepted by prosecutors, and noted "there was a phone secreted in his anus."

Recorder Imran Shafiq adjourned the case for a formal basis of plea to be written by Morris.

He will return to court next month.
