Bolton residents still have a chance to have their say on proposed changes to street cleaning.

Currently, some of the council’s street cleaning teams are allocated to district centres and work to a set schedule.

In the proposed new setup, this will change so that staff can respond to where the need is greatest - anywhere in the borough.

All parts of the council are required to contribute to total budget savings of £37.2m for the period 2021-2023.

As part of efforts to meet their savings and efficiencies target, the Waste and Neighbourhood Services team is consulting on proposals that will reduce the cost of street cleansing by £270,000 per year.

Household wheely bin collections won’t be affected.

Enforcement against littering, as well as cleaning at major events will also continue as normal.

There will also be no reduction in the number of street bins.
