A park less than an hour’s drive from Bolton has been voted among the top 10 most beautiful winter gardens to visit this year.

Dunham Massey in Altrincham boasts over 1600 trees, winter shrubs and evergreens, chosen specifically for their resilience and beauty throughout the winter months.

The huge seven-acre garden is filled with flowers, greenery and wildlife which can be easily accessed by all visitors to the park.

For these reasons it places at number eight in a list of the UK’s winter gardens collated by www.GardenBuildingsDirect.co.uk.

The outdoor experts are encouraging nature lovers to wrap up warm and take a stroll outside to explore some of the best winter beauty spots to help boost moods and improve people’s physical and mental wellbeing.

The National Trust site is a mere 45-minute car journey away from Bolton town centre and costs £8 for adults and £4 for children to enjoy.

And the garden looks magical both day and night at this time of year, as the Christmas decorations light up the night’s sky.

The illuminations were switched on for the first time on Friday, November 18, and will last until January 2, 2023.
